Privacy Policy – Melbourne Grand Mosque app

Who we are
The MGM app is operated by Werribee Islamic Centre Inc. (ABN 17 286 943 994), the entity that operates Melbourne Grand Mosque (the “Mosque”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
Information we collect

Device push notification token (optional) — only if you enable notifications for prayer times, events or daily reminders. Used to deliver those notifications to your device.

Anonymous usage data (screen counts, crashes) to help us improve the app. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally.
Payment processing
The app itself does not collect any donation or payment information. When you tap “Donate Now”, the app opens our official donation page at mgm.org.au/donate-now/ in your device’s browser. Donations are processed entirely on that page by Stripe Payments, an Apple-approved payment processor. Your card details are entered directly into Stripe’s PCI-compliant secure form and are never seen, stored, or transmitted by Melbourne Grand Mosque. Funds are settled to bank accounts held in the name of Werribee Islamic Centre Inc., the entity operating Melbourne Grand Mosque. Stripe issues an emailed receipt automatically. Stripe’s own privacy policy is available at stripe.com/au/privacy.
How we use your information

Send notifications you have explicitly opted in to (iqamah reminders, athan reminders, events, daily Quran/Hadith reminders).

Operate, maintain and improve the app.
•
Comply with our legal obligations (e.g. financial record keeping for donations made on our website).
Sharing of information
We do not sell your data. We share information only with:

Stripe Payments — solely when you make a donation on mgm.org.au and only for the purpose of processing that payment. Stripe acts as a separate data controller for payment data.

Our hosting provider — to store anonymous app data and donation records securely.
•
Law enforcement or government agencies if required by law.
Data retention
Donation records are retained for 7 years to meet Australian financial record-keeping requirements. Push notification tokens are retained until you uninstall the app or disable notifications.
Your rights
•
Access — request a copy of your personal information held by us.
•
Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate information.
•
Deletion — request deletion of your information (subject to our legal retention requirements).
•
Opt out of notifications at any time from the More tab → Notifications.
Children’s privacy
The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Security
We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we take protecting your information seriously.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect the latest revision. Material changes will be highlighted in the app.
